Siris
Continuing our poetic homage to the trees of Northstar, we present Siris.
A giant Siris
How do I see it?
With my small Iris
Giant like the gods of old
Zeus and Osiris
Have I seen one before,
Perhaps that was a Cypress
Many of these I love, these trees
But the greatest of them all
Is the giant Siris.
Overhanging above the lily pond at our school entrance, is the large Siris tree. It has quickly become one of the largest trees on the campus. Beautiful in all seasons, it has fragrant brush like flowers and rattling seed pods. One would often find teachers and students under the Siris.
