Kabuliwala at Phantasmagoria

Uncover the power of memory and friendship as The Northstar School brings Tagore’s Kabuliwala to Phantasmagoria.

Amid the lively chatter of old Kolkata, an unlikely friendship blossoms between inquisitive little Mini and Rehmat, the big-hearted dry-fruit vendor from Kabul. But what happens when long-stored letters and cherished memories spill over from the story's pages, sending Rehmat’s journey on a wild turn straight into Northstar’s library? Pure phantasmagoric chaos breaks loose.

Our stars of grades 5 & 6 are stepping into the spotlight with a soulful classic reimagined, blending rich Indian literature, deep emotional truth, and a touch of magical spectacle.

A Literary Journey

Crafted in 1892 by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Kabuliwala stands as an enduring gem of modern Indian literature. Tagore skillfully bridges gaps of culture, age, and geography, painting a universal portrait of parental longing and childhood innocence through the bond shared by Mini and Rehmat.

At Northstar, bringing this story to life provides our learners a meaningful platform to connect with our nation's literary roots while building empathy, cultural appreciation, and emotional maturity.

The Phantasmagoria Twist

Beyond the heartwarming core of Mini and Rehmat’s tale, this production holds a surprising theatrical twist. As old Kolkata springs to life, the sheer nostalgia of the narrative causes a tear in the storybook universe. Stepping into Northstar's library, Rehmat’s sack of almonds and old letters brings along eccentric guests from completely different stories from royal court ministers to playful jungle animals. Experience the magic as classic Bengal meets unexpected fantasy worlds.

Celebrating Our Northstarians
