Cross-Age Tutoring Program at The Northstar School

We are excited to share our Cross-Age Tutoring Program, a peer-learning initiative designed to foster collaboration, boost academic confidence, and build a stronger school community across different grade levels.

Cross-Age Tutoring is an instructional approach where older or more experienced learners mentor and support younger learners. Through this collaborative model, learners benefit from both teaching others and receiving targeted guidance, reinforcing their own understanding while supporting their peers.

Key Goals of the Program

  • Strengthen Academic Learning
  • Build Confidence & Ownership
  • Develop Social & Emotional Skills
  • Support Differentiated Learning

Program Interventions

Over the last few weeks, we have done several activities under the initiatives. Some of them are as below:

Intervention 1: Habit of Mind (HOM)

  • Focus: Nurturing teamwork, mutual reliance, and community awareness.
  • Format: Cross-grade sessions facilitated by senior learners of Grades 5–12 for junior learners of Grades 1–8 between August 7th and August 21st.

Intervention 2: Domain-Specific Peer Tutoring

  • Focus: Academic reinforcement and subject-specific skill development across Core Domains (Science, Mathematics, and English).
  • Format: Target-focused mentoring sessions facilitated by senior learners for junior classes on September 11th and 17th.

We are happy to share some glimpses of the same. We look forward to seeing our learners learn, grow, and lead together through this meaningful initiative.
